CA Employee Profile

Each newsletter issue focuses on a different Care Assist employee and their experience working within the organisation and community care industry.

Lorraine Bain – Additional Responsibilities’ Manager

My name is Lorraine Bain and I’ve worked at Care Assist since Nov 2014.

I am the AR- Additional Responsibilities’ Manager for the Hillingdon service.

My specialist background is in Psychology and Counselling. I’ve worked for several charity and independent organisations as an integrative counsellor working with clients who experienced mental health and bereavement.

I really enjoyed my role, however, I wanted to gain more experience in a setting where individuals with mental health could be supported to achieve their goals in life.

I first began my journey at Hamilton Road in Nov 2014 as a Project Worker and was trained up to become an AR for the Hillingdon Service which opened in March 2015. I have now been here for two years and have gained a wealth of experience and I enjoy my dynamic role as it has provided me with:

  •  Inspiration and Motivation

  • Multi-disciplinary team working

  • Continual learning and development

  • Leadership and Management Skills

  • Further Confidence

  • An ability to act quickly and direct the team to be responsive to situations.

  • The knowledge to ensure that the service I manage is Safe, Effective and Caring.

I really enjoy the opportunities that the organisation has provided me with to progress and continue my professional development.

So what's been going on?

Successful Journey to Independence - Anthony Meosa

Anthony has lived at Hamilton Road for nearly 5 years and feels that he has gained a lot of independence.

He has been asked to speak at a Job Fair at Harrow College on March 22nd, and jumped at the chance of doing this.

He is really looking forward to the day and has been practicing with me as I will be supporting him with the presentation.

Anthony will be speaking about his successful journey to independence and the presentation will be for about 5 mins to an audience of college students, employers and the general public.

He has already thought of a lot of things to say and we have been timing the presentation to ensure that he doesn’t talk for too long.

Anthony has achieved a lot in the five years he has been at Hamilton Road as you can see in the picture he was awarded a certificate of achievement at the Christmas party last year for being the most active resident for 2016, which he is very proud of.

I know that Anthony has the confidence to deliver a great presentation and he will do really well.
